We are thrilled to welcome Patrick Joyce, a veritable industry leader, who will serve as Proofpoint’s Global Resident Chief Information Security Officer (RCISO). In this role, Patrick will act as a strategic advisor to the greater CISO community and spearhead Proofpoint’s Customer Advisory Board (CAB).
While some cybersecurity companies offer resources and additional value to their customers through an internal CISO, the goal is typically to sell their company’s products. At Proofpoint, our RCISO acts as a liaison, colleague, mentor and resource to the greater CISO community, focused solely on the security needs of customer CISOs by delivering unbiased advice, knowledge and training to help CISOs stay ahead of the curve in the ever-changing threat landscape.
Patrick is a recognized thought leader in the cybersecurity industry, and his wide-ranging expertise will be a valuable asset to help our customers break the attack chain, protecting them from today's most sophisticated cyber risks and threats. As a highly respected cybersecurity practitioner with over 30 years of experience in the IT and security field, Patrick brings a wealth of knowledge to this critical role; most recently, he served as Vice President and Chief Security Officer (both CSO & CISO) for Medtronic, a Fortune 500 MedTech enterprise, where he was responsible for leading the company’s global security strategies, operations and initiatives. Prior to joining Medtronic, Patrick held leadership roles in both public and private sector organizations across multiple verticals, including healthcare (both provider & payor), travel/hospitality, and IT consulting. He also served as an Officer in the US Air Force and in the US Intelligence Community.
Patrick has a strong track record of building trusted partnerships and collaborations by bringing peers and other senior leaders together to address common challenges within the private sector and various government agencies. He also serves on industry boards and presents his guidance and expertise at both private and public forums. For example, he has served on the board of the Healthcare Information Sharing & Analysis Center (H-ISAC), established by US Presidential Directive to manage cyber risk across critical infrastructure, as well the boards of the Minnesota Technology Association (MnTech), the Audit Committee of the National Marrow Donor Program or ‘Be The Match’, and the Audit and Risk Committee of Allina Health System.
In addition to his accomplishments as a business partner and trusted advisor, Patrick is also known for his commonsense approach, calm and careful leadership, sound judgment, and ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
We’re excited to welcome Patrick to Proofpoint and look forward to introducing Patrick to CISOs across the globe over the weeks and months ahead.
