Abstract: Most ransomware events occur after access is gained through other means, often via malware known as botnets. Law enforcement cooperates on takedowns -- but are they effective? In this talk we will examine data surrounding some of the major takedowns of the last few years including Emotet, Qbot, Lockbit, Smokeloader, and most recently the botnets involved with Operation Endgame.
