ITM Server Blind SQL injection via dbName parameter, CVE-2021-40842

Proofpoint Insider Threat Management Server contains a SQL injection vulnerability in the Web Console. The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation on the database name parameter required in certain unauthenticated APIs. A malicious URL visited by anyone with network access to the server could be used to blindly execute arbitrary SQL statements on the backend database. Version 7.12.0 and all versions prior to 7.11.2 are affected.

Fixed Software
Proofpoint has released a fix in version 7.12.1 and 7.11.2.
The patched versions are now available through the customer support portal.
Proofpoint on-premises Customers
For on-premise environments that are configured to manually apply releases, install the applicable release as noted above.
You should upgrade your Insider Threat Management (ObserveIT) On-Premise backend to the latest version (DB, Web Consoles. App Servers, Web Cat, Screenshot Optimizers).
ObserveIT Agents can be upgraded based on your maintenance window by following our EOL matrix.
No action is required for Enterprise Protection (PPS) Hardware and Virtual Appliance customers, running supported versions that are configured to deploy releases automatically. Applicable fixes have been automatically deployed.
