Breaking news: Gartner® has named Proofpoint a Leader in the Magic QuadrantTM for Enterprise Information Archiving for the 10th consecutive year. This makes Proofpoint the current, longest-running Leader in this Magic Quadrant. So, you might say the other news here is that the more things change, the more they stay the same.
We believe to be recognised a Leader for a decade running in a Magic Quadrant is monumental, regardless of technology. And the world of data archiving certainly has seen significant change over these past 10 years, including:
- The migration of key on-premises apps like email and file sharing to the cloud,
- The rise of cloud-native archiving
- A shift away from storage optimisation as a primary use case
- Vendor consolidation
- The emergence of local and global privacy regulations that are forcing organisations to revisit their compliance strategy
So, how has Proofpoint remained a Leader for so long in the face of so much dramatic industry change? Read the 2022 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Information Archiving report (and check out previous editions, too) to get their perspectives. And as the product marketing lead for Proofpoint Enterprise Archive, Proofpoint E-Discovery Analytics, Proofpoint Intelligent Supervision and Proofpoint NexusAI for Compliance, allow me to share a couple of my own.
Focus on customers
Year after year, Proofpoint emphasises driving a “world-class customer experience” as a key strategic imperative for the company. When I first started at Proofpoint, I was impressed to learn early on that we have a Customer Success Team with a charter to engage Enterprise Archive customers and orchestrate annual health checks to confirm, for example, whether configurations are operating within best practices.
In my year and a half at Proofpoint, I’ve seen the company launch a redesigned platform called Proofpoint Community to help foster open communication between customers and Proofpoint engineers, support staff and other teams. We’ve also introduced a new cadence of customer product councils and user councils, as well as a new monthly Compliance & Archiving eNewsletter that’s written specifically for our installed base.
I like to think our customer-centric DNA and the many customer-focused programs we continue to roll out have contributed to the stellar 95% CSAT rating (based on surveys completed by customers and conducted by Proofpoint Technical Support) we’ve achieved this year for our archiving business. And we’re just getting started!
Focus on innovation
It’s overwhelmingly refreshing to work for Proofpoint, where we invest 20% of revenue into R&D every year. I’ve been fortunate to see this in action by helping to launch several archiving innovations in 2021.
Early in the year, we delivered Query Analytics, which allow you to run “what if” scenarios with your searches. Its reports illustrate the impact of removing search terms on the resulting search results, helping you easily refine your queries as needed. (Read about this feature and other advanced e-discovery capabilities in the E-Discovery Analytics data sheet.)
I was also proud to be involved with the launch of NexusAI for Compliance in May. If you’re supervising digital communications to help enable regulatory compliance, you seriously need to investigate this tech, which uses machine learning models to significantly reduce false positives.
The IT director at our first NexusAI customer struck a chord with me when he explained, “Our initial focus with NexusAI for Compliance is getting rid of the noise—false positives—and reducing reviewer fatigue, because that’s where the errors come in.”
There you have it: measurable quantitative and qualitative value.
In closing, we’re extremely proud of our decade of continuous recognition by Gartner. We thank our customers for contributing to our success and offer congratulations to our Proofpoint Compliance & Archiving colleagues, from sales, product management and support to engineering, marketing and professional services. We accept this prestigious honour as a team!
