Proofpoint’s global Resident CISO (RCISO) team has been recognized as a Cybersecurity Team of the Year Gold Winner at the 2023 Cybersecurity Excellence Awards. Team leader Lucia Milică Stacy has also been named a Cybersecurity Woman of the Year Gold Winner. This annual program, sponsored by Cybersecurity Insiders, recognizes the best cybersecurity products, professionals, and companies across the world.
This honor validates the important work the RCISO team performs to bring value to Proofpoint’s customers and help them better prepare to defend against the cyber threats their organizations face.
While many vendors offer resources and additional value to their customers through internal CISO teams, their goal typically is to sell their company’s products. At Proofpoint, the RCISO team is focused solely on the security needs of customer CISOs. The team delivers vendor-agnostic and unbiased advice, knowledge and training to help CISOs best protect their organizations while growing in their roles through personal and professional development opportunities.
“We’re proud to serve as an extension of our customers’ teams, bringing a wealth of cybersecurity knowledge and expertise as experienced operational CISO practitioners,” said Lucia Milică Stacy, global resident CISO at Proofpoint. “We have deep cross-industry and cross-geography visibility and knowledge to offer global cyber leadership best practices and are truly honored to receive this important recognition from the Cybersecurity Excellence Awards.”
Collectively, the team has over 200 years of experience in cybersecurity, including with many leading global enterprises in sectors as diverse as financial, aviation, healthcare, consulting, technology, cybersecurity, telecommunications and retail. Several team experts also hold advanced degrees, serve as board members or advisers with entities such as the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Health and Human Services, and are actively involved with different industry organizations and initiatives such as NextGen Cyber Talent.
The mission of this group is to provide value-add advisory services, thought leadership and industry trends that support and augment the greater CISO community, along with professional and personal development opportunities for security leaders. Their activities include, among others, speaking at conferences, offering webinars, hosting monthly CISO educational meetups, providing CISO training for interactions with boards of directors, and underwriting the National Technology Security Coalition to represent CISOs on policy matters in Washington, D.C.
These RCISO experts share their insights regularly through Proofpoint’s CISO Hub online resource for security practitioners with helpful articles, research and tools. The Hub provides an experience that exposes CISOs to a community of thought leaders and content with peer-to-peer engagement while helping security leaders be better at their jobs and feel empowered to succeed.
The team also spearheads Proofpoint’s annual Voice of the CISO and Board of Directors reports. These highly regarded assets offer unique insights to both CISOs and board directors on how their peers view the cybersecurity landscape and interact with one another, along with fresh perspectives on how CISOs and boards address cybersecurity challenges. The reports also offer useful advice for CISOs on how to effectively communicate with boards using nontechnical business language they understand, and for board members, on how to develop relevant questions to ask of their CISOs.
The thought leadership and knowledge the RCISO team delivers allows operational CISOs to focus “heads down” into the companies they represent, and the guidance they provide helps security leaders build robust programs based on current security industry trends and leading best practices.
